Most manuals suggest that strange noises would be a sign of harddrive malfunction but I haven't noticed any noises and I have used it for about 5 years already.
Now about the harddrive, when I put them on the same cable, the resultant is that there is a huge performance decrease.
The jumpers are set to master for the harddrive with windows OS and slave for the other harddrive.

The Linux harddrive is formated only for Linux, and i dont think anyone (no matter how many posts they have or how smart they think they are) really knows if it will be compatible with any HDD supported software.
The harddrive was made available in Japan for use with Final Fantasy 11 (to begin with).
It'll be interesting to see what happens with the harddrive, but I am looking forward to it being released as applications such as web browsing, file storage, TV recording and playback (like TiVo) could be possible.

Inside the reciver the harddrive is connected to the mainboard by a small controller card, this card can sometimes become loose, the reciver will work whan the controller is put back in place again.
Both the harddrive power- and the harddrive data- cable sometimes have problems with the connections, try to gently pull the cables out of the harddrive and/or the reciver, and then put them back together.
Some people have the problem with their new harddrive, that the drive can be too slow to start up.

 Ghosting new harddrive.
I replaced the drive with a 160 gig set the bios to a 160 gig drive(it would not auto detect when I tried it would show a 33gig this may be related I have no idea) I made 4 partitions and it only shows a total of 137 gigs.
The seagate harddrive came with a new cable and it is a 80 wire with a 40 pin connector and yes IDE.
While messing around under the harddrive choices I notice the 160 that I set to is MB not gig.

Ok I have a Seagate 80Gb harddrive that I used to have in my PC with Windows on it, but i got a bigger harddrive and want to use the Seagate in my PS2.
I deleted everything off the harddrive and tried to use the HDD utility disk that came with my 40Gb harrdrive for my PS2 that im using now.
Ok that was the problem then, this was my first time doing it and i assumed i needed the PS2 to see it in order to work, but i booted up in to HDloader and it worked just fine.

Most of the following programs will issue an "identify drive" command to the harddrive specified, which will return a lot of information about the drive, including it's serial number (which is also printed on the drive) and the firmware revision (which I have never seen printed on any drive).
This is the only magazine I know that compares PC-components like motherboards, harddrives etc. on a professional level, and unlike most other magazines, will also inform you about bad products (both software and hardware).
I am not related to Computercraft, c't or any of the harddrive and software manufacturers mentioned, and don't get payed for writing this (but it is my job to know about things like this, and I do get payed for that).

Theres no stupid rule that the master has to have more capacity than the slave because my master is 120gb but my slave is 250gb.

With all three harddrives installed you could copy the 40 gig swap over to the thrid drive and then resize it down.

im pretty sure that unless you have a modchip, you have to have the sony harddrive (which is a rip off).
I don't know how much they are, in fact i've never even seen one for sale yet.
You probably wound be able to put every game on the harddrive.

After reading mouser's review a long time ago I decided that I wanted to get an external enclosure and harddrive to make my own external drive.
I get most of my problems trying to open avi files from the external harddrive.
If I copy them to my internal harddrive they play no problem.
