  TheClydebankStory - Neighbourhoods: Hardgate
The old village of Hardgate lay astride the turnpike road from Dumbarton to Stirling, east of the neighbouring village of Duntocher.
In Hardgate, linear growth developed along the Glasgow Road with several cottages such as the two thatched cottages known as the "Thack" at the north side of the cross, beside the Clover Bar.
Compared to Clydebank, Hardgate escaped lightly in the Blitz; the main casualties were the mill, Trinity Church in Roman Road, Duntocher Public school and St Mary's Chapel in Duntocher.

 2001202
Kelvinbank started the brighter team and an early warning for Hardgate came courtesy of a trademark Greener inswinging corner which was destined to finish in the net until the Hardgate keeper did well to touch the ball round for another corner.
Although Hardgate refused to give up, Kelvinbank's tails were now well and truly up and they created a further good opportunity when McGraw picked out Gillespie at the back post but he squandered the chance to get his first goal for the club.
Hardgate will be disappointed with the result but clearly have enough quality in their side to continue the progress they have made since last season and to put their push for the title back on track in the coming weeks.

Hardgate began this match with optimism knowing a victory would allow them to get back into the title race.
However, it was ultimately Kelvinbank who took the points with a gritty performance which was full of the desire you would expect to see from a team looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Riverside.
Their initial shot was charged down but the ball fell again to Hardgate but this time they did not get a proper connection on the shot allowing Gillespie to hook the ball off the line.
