The grant to Sringeri matha, in which Harihara is mentioned as ruler of the whole country between the eastern and western seas, as well as the inscription of 1348 stating that Vidya Nagara was his capital, shows his improved political status after the death of Ballala IV.
In Andhra Harihara II was able to defeat the Reddis of Kondavidu and the Velamas of Rajakonda, thereby making himself the master of the peninsula to the south of the river Krishna.
On the death of Harihara II the succession to the throne was disputed.

The Kimbell Harihara was sculpted in the so-called Prasat Andet style, dating to around 675–700 A.D., and has been described as one of the most exceptional examples of pre-Angkor-period Khmer sculpture to have survived.
In preparation for Meyers's examination, the additional fragment of the proper left leg of the Kimbell Harihara came to light in storage at the Museum, and it was decided that it should be reattached.

 The Vijaynagar Empire
Two brothers Harihara and Bukka laid the foundation of the Vijaynagar city on the southern bank of Tungabhadra river near Anegundi fortress.
Harihara II extended this newly founded kingdom by conquoering almost whole of southern India, including Mysore, Kanara, Chingalpet, Trichinopally and Kanchivaram.
Harihara II was devotee of Virupaksha (Shiva) but was tolerant to all other religions.

The city was founded in 1336 by two brothers Harihara (also called Hakka) and Bukka who had been taken as prisoners of war by the Delhi Sultan, Mohammed-bin-Tuglak in 1326-1327, when the Chalukyan kingdom of Kampili near Hampi was overthrown.
Harihara and Bukka seem to have been model prisoners, because when his southern provinces began to get rebellious, the sultan sent back the brothers to restore order.
Restore order they did, and so successfully that they were soon able to set up an independent kingdom.
