He was the Governor of Hazara in 1822-23.
It is situated in Haripur, a small city in North West Frontier Province(NWFP), 78 km north west of Islamabad, the Capital of Pakistan.
At a distance of 8 km from Haripur lies Havelian which is a railhead and links the region with rest of the country.

Out of those only 12.0 percent of the population live in urban areas, while, the rest of 88.0 percent of the population lives in the rural areas.

HARIPUR, April 21: NWFP chief minister Akram Khan Duranni has said that the government has tried its best to protect the right of Frontier province and efforts are made to get certain share of net hydel profit from Tarbela Dam for Haripur district.
He said that his government will never lag behind the policies of the past rulers, rather he assured that Haripur would certainly get its due share from NHP of Tarbela Dam, once the matter is settled with federal government, he added.
About repairing of Hattar-Texila Road, he made it clear that fund would be released to FWO when the road is constructed in accordance with the terms of contract.

The Tareen tribes of Hazara Division migrated from Kandahar in the 17th century CE under the leadership of Sher Khan Tareen.
In Hazara region, amongst these deputed chiefs were Najeebullah Khan Tareen, Sa'adat Khan Swati of Garhi Habibullah, Mir Zabardast Khan Tanoli (also known as Suba Khan Tanoli), and some others.
Mashwanis, Swatis, and Jadoons are the closest Pashtun tribes to Tareen in the region of Hazara division, and in Multan too.

A meeting was held in this regard which was attended by Haripur Hazara District Nazim Dr Raja Amir Zaman, representative of the Rawalpindi corps commander, officials of the Capital Development Authority and Rawalpindi Development Authority, project director of Khanpur Dam and irrigation departments of the Punjab and the NWFP.
The Haripur Hazara district government took strong notice of the denial of water, as traditional canals, irrigating fruit orchards and other crops, had almost dried up.
Farmers had complained that due to suspension of water supply to their lands and provision of more water to Islamabad and Rawalpindi from Khanpur Dam, fruit farms and standing crops in Panj Katha valley of Taxila, Hazara and Hasanabdal areas had been badly affected.

My neighbourhood gurdwara was Istari Satsang Sabha meaning the Sikh Women Congregation, in the town of Haripur Hazara, the only town founded by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the honor of the Sikh general Hari Singh Nalwa.
Men in the town attended the Guru Nanak Satsang Sabha gurdwara but the young children went with their mothers to the separate gurdwara for women.
I was lucky to be in the care of two very kind women granthi's Haripur; I learnt my reading skills for Gurcharani Lago initiation rite and all of my Sikh history from them.
