The Dallas Harlequins Rugby Football Club was formed in January, 1971 and named in honor of the venerable Harlequin FC of London, England.
The Harlequins 1st side won the Texas Rugby Football Union Championships for the first time in 1975 and, since 1981, has dominated Texas Rugby by winning the Texas RFU Championships a staggering twenty times: 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003.
Flanker David Care is the latest Harlequin to play for the USA in XVs, earning four international caps in the Eagles' Iberian and Pacific Rim tours in the spring of 1998, and rejoining the Eagle pool in 2000.

Harlequins Rugby League is a rugby league club representing the greater London area.
Professional Rugby League was briefly represented in London in the 1930s by London Highfield (who played only one season), Acton and Willesden (also one season) and Streatham and Mitcham (one and a half seasons).
This was followed by the announcement of a partnership with Harlequins Rugby Union club that would see the side return to Twickenham Stoop as Harlequins RL for the 2006 season.
