The society was weakened by the death of Rapp (1847), dwindled as the members grew older, and went out of existence after 1906.

Barbershop Harmony Society - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Barbershop Harmony Society, also known as the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA), was the first of several organizations to promote and preserve barbershop music as an art form.
A second women's barbershop-harmony organization, Harmony Incorporated, was formed in 1959, as the result of a dispute over SAI's membership policy, which at the time limited membership to whites.
In mid-2004, faced with declining membership, the Society adopted a marketing plan that calls for using "Barbershop Harmony Society" consistently and retaining the old name for certain legal purposes.

Western Esotericism and the Harmony Society
In the mid-nineteenth century, the Harmony Society's per capita income was ten times that of the average American, and the Society was well known for its huge agricultural projects, its factories, its ingenious inventions, and its wealth.
The history of the Harmony Society is documented extensively in the series of large volumes edited by Karl Arndt, and there we find overwhelming evidence of how important Christian esotericism was for the Rapps.
But in fact it is the case that although the inspiration and motivation for the Harmony Society emerged from Western esoteric sources, the sheer material wealth of the society soon completely overpowered and suffocated what had brought the society into being.
