 Harmony Album Review
Harmony has arrived and it's impact is undeniable, delivered in Lightfoot's understated and inimitable style.
I've read recently how many critics and casual observers alike have hailed Harmony as a return to form for Lightfoot, and while their intent may be honourable, I believe they do him a disservice - I would argue that his form has never been lost and his entire recorded catalog is proof positive.
Harmony is a singular album in Lightfoot's career, in that it was built around demos recorded prior to his being "felled...by mechanical failure", as only Gord could so matter-of-factly put it.

Napalm Death : Harmony Corruption - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
However, the Napalm Death of those two albums is not the Napalm Death of Harmony Corruption, not in membership nor sound.
Their next album, Utopia Banished (1992), would spiral them off into a more experimental hybrid of grindcore and death metal, which is where they'd remain for years afterward -- out there, somewhere in between.
All considered, Harmony Corruption is a bit of a novel album for the band, though one that's not especially remarkable in the big picture.

CD Baby: SOROUSH: Eastern and Western Harmony
The album represents a glimpse at the inspirations of the artist Soroush, who brings to life complex feelings and moods in form of melodies that please the ear and move the soul.
In his first album, Soroush follows in the giant footsteps of some of the world's greatest composers by presenting melodies that are often enhanced with a complement of violin, cello, guitar and modern harmonic sounds of South American instrumentations.
On the cover of his first album, Soroush chose to commemorate the Bam Citadel, a grand and unique structure which is an icon of the glory days of the Persian Empire.

BBC - Radio 2 - Folk and Acoustic
Harmony is Gordon's 20th album since 1966 and it's fair to say that since the mid-'70s, in much the same way as Tom Paxton, his material and delivery had become more safe, more pipe and slippers than angst and edge.
Great review of "Harmony" Clive, but you omitted to stress that this album is based on some solo demos Gord had made before his illneess and then coordinated the addition of the instrumentation by his band and co-producer Bob Doidge whilst laying on his back recuperating from follow-up operations.

Close Harmony Downloads - Download Close Harmony Music - Download Close Harmony MP3s
The sound of close harmony grew out of the high, lonesome sound of bluegrass, yet most close-harmony songs were closer to traditional country than bluegrass.
Ironically, close-harmony acts in general -- and the Louvins in particular -- were an influence on the harmony style of the Everly Brothers, who happened to write the template for rock & roll harmonies with their late '50s singles.
The close harmonies of Ira and Charlie Louvin reflected the influence of earlier family harmony acts such as the Delmore Brothers, and Bill and Charlie Monroe, but few (if any) duos in country history brought their voices together with such thrilling and heart-tugging clarity as the Louvins.

Gordon Lightfoot : Harmony - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Few singer/songwriters have given as much quality material to the medium as Canadian-born troubadour Gordon Lightfoot, so it comes as no surprise that after suffering a near-fatal abdominal hemorrhage in 2002, he awoke from a coma with only one thing on his mind: making a record.
He had recorded 18 demos for the upcoming Harmony sessions prior to the injury, and was preparing to take the band in to cut them proper.
Lightfoot has a reputation as a staunch perfectionist -- his biggest selling album, 1975's Gord's Gold, features mostly re-recordings of past hits he was unsatisfied with -- so it's a testament to his passion that he would give up so much creative control.
