Dr James Xavier (Ray Milland) is experimenting on increasing the scale of human sight.
The reason Xavier has for his experiments is medical research, and there is a preoccupation with disease in the film which adds to the slightly queasy air - as if watching the addicted Milland using the eye drops on his inflamed eyes wasn't bad enough.
But before we get to that, Xavier uses his ability to see through people's clothes (cue the quaint party scene) and, when he is forced to flee after a ridiculous plot twist, he becomes a sideshow attraction in a carnival.

Dr. James Xavier (Milland) is attempting to heighten the receptivity of the eyes to permit sight of the 90% of the spectrum that cannot be seen by humans.
When Xavier first takes his formula, there is a classic shot sequence zooming into the back of his head, through his brain and eyes and out into the new world he sees in front of him.
In a nifty bit of wish fulfillment, although his initial motives are highly noble, Xavier soon falls victim to looking at women under their clothes and cheating at the slots and fljack in Las Vegas.

The possibilities suggested in the hints of addiction and inconsistent bouts of megalomania remain tantalizingly unexplored in the unfocused script, and Corman's cut-rate special effects are often more hokey than haunting (the "city dissolved in an acid of light" that Xavier poetically describes becomes fuzzy photography through a series of color filters).
Xavier says that he has not come to be saved, but to tell what he sees.

It was noted that the Fury Field is still in line for some work, possibly irrigation, however we need to closely watch our summer schedule to fit in any work done, around camps, practices, etc. Julie failed to get to Miles the trophy catalog, hopefully that will be handled this weekend.
Harold mentioned that the deadline for deciding at which age divisions in the RMYSL we want to place Fury teams (and how many), and for paying the team deposit, is June 17th.
