Lager was later brewed for a short period in Kells, in the Regal Brewery.
In 1959 the consumpution of lager in Ireland and United Kingdom was five times greater than the 1950's figure, and the potential of brewing and marketing lager with a traditional continental character in these islands was realised.

This is in my opinion should be what most lagers should aspire to be.
This was a nice straw blonde pouring out into a glass with a decent 1 to 1 and half finger head that when settled left a little lace down the side of the glass.
The taste was spot on for a lager as it was clean, crisp and had a good balance between malty taste and hops to give it a good bite at the end.

This however did not prove to be true as the bottom of the glass was much smoother and creamier.
However as I mentioned, the warmer the beer got, the smoother it got, and I was not as happy by the time I’d reached the bottom.
I’m mostly an ale over lager drinker, but if I were to take a lager, while not my first choice, this would do.

Steve: Not the best lager I've ever had, with a bitter, hoppy taste, but then again, the Irish aren't known for this style.
Good when cutting Guinness for a Black and Tan.
