| | 2005 Eisner nominations announced - The Comics Journal Message Board (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03) |
 | | With most comics awards (whether the Eisners, Harveys, or many others), several of the categories are slanted toward "mainstream" companies (Best Serialized Story, Best Penciller/Inker, Best Coloring, and even Best Writer), because they are grounded in the traditional assembly-line approach to comics that the big companies use. |
 | | The comic content was better and there was more of it this year, with fewer artsy-fartsy flourishes, and was a much better package as a result. |
 | | I don't know an artist who saw this at San Diego who wasn't floored by it, and that includes comic strip guys, lifelong superhero artists, and all of the indie and small press guys who were insanely jealous of the whole project. |
