Home Garden - Preparation Of The Garden
This is a sufficient reason for a general fall cleaning up in the garden, for it is the means of saving a great deal of hard work which would have to be done next season, if eggs and larva were left to develop.
It may seem to the amateur that the advice to run a harrow over the ground before plowing, if the garden was left uncared for in the fall, is more the result of whim than anything else, but it is not.
The foregoing advice on the preparation of the garden is based on the supposition that your plat of ground is large enough to warrant the use of the plow.

 GUYANA
Villagers were asked to draw a map of their village showing the main infrastructure, the utilization of land and the DandI constraints.
However, the concept of village is quite vague in the non declared areas such as Dredge Creek, Somerset and Berks and in Kent Dam where part of the population is settled without title and the other part lives in neighbouring villages.
However, many of the landless do cultivate small vegetable gardens, either where their houselots are located (along the public road, on the Government reserve dams), or at the head of a rice field where they have a private arrangement with a rice farmer.

Fort Vancouver: Cultural Landscape Report (Chapter 3, Volume 1)
Structures in the garden included a summerhouse at the north end; four to five cold (or hot) frames on the east edge of the garden; and a well (based on preliminary archeological investigations, 1991) located near the south end of the garden.
In 1846, documentation indicates the garden was reduced when the west edge of the garden was aligned with the west stockade wall rather than extending beyond it (as in 1844).
The history of the orchard as a distinct unit (separate from the garden) is complicated because many of the records and descriptions of the orchard are intermixed with the history of the garden.

The present Harrow is a good example of a well-built Tudor style from between the wars, built by H H and F Roll of Epsom, with timber frame detailing throughout.
