Bullis had said: "It is the consensus of many of your friends in this upper Middle West area that the best single strategy during the remaining weeks of the campaign is for you and your charming First Lady to be seen by as many people as possible in as many locales.
Bullis had suggested that Eisenhower "Ease the money situation right away, swing it around a bit before election, and overcome the objections of all of these pressure groups." (See the preceding document.)

Harry Amos Bullis was chairman of the board of General Mills (for background see Galambos, Columbia University, no. 893).
Bullis had congratulated Eisenhower on his "smashing victory" in the extension of the excess-profits tax and for the "constructive manner" in which he was "slowly fencing in Senator McCarthy." "Your popularity with the American people is increasing," he wrote.
On this same day (July 15) Bullis would write again to suggest a way to balance the nation's wheat stocks with its needs (see no. 398).
