Harry JACKSON, a negro, 22 years old, of 328 Fourth street, was held in the Butler street court this morning on a charge of burglary made by Charles H. MERCHANT, of 712 Eighth avenue, who says JACKSON stole a role of carpet from a showroom at the above address.
The prisoners, who gave their names as Daniel TAYLOR, Harry GRAHAM and Henry DODGE, told Magistrate FURLONG that they were working in the railroad yards at Atlantic and New York avenues, when a ball was suddenly thrown over the fence.
In the Butler street court John MCKENNA, of 12 Garnet street, was held in $100 for assaulting his wife, Bridget, and in $200 on a second charge which she makes that he has abandoned her and their two children.

During an attack on 8th August 1918 at Demuin, France, Corporal Miner, single-handed, rushed an enemy machine-gun post, killed all of the crew and then turned the gun on to the enemy.
Captain of the Foretop, Samuel Mitchell, of HMS Harrier, at the time acting as the Captain's coxswain, during the attack at Gate Pah, Te Papa, Tauranga, New Zealand, entered the pah with Commander Hay.
After a gunnery course at HMS Excellent he joined HMS Harrier when she was commissioned at Portsmouth in August 1860.

Mesabi Miner was due into DMIR late Sept. 20 to load ore. Lee A. Tregurtha was scheduled to arrive BNSF in Superior for ore.
It wasn't clear whether the Barker was rerouted to avoid a delay at the coal dock or for some reason involving the DMIR ore dock.
