FREDERICK — A new name for Harry Grove Stadium, one trash pick up instead of two a week and slashing the health plan for Frederick city aldermen are some of the ways aldermanic candidate Ken Berlin said he’s been able to find an extra $800,000 in the city budget.
Renaming Harry Grove may be possible, he said, although there may be stipulations in the original naming agreement from 16 years ago, when M.J. Grove gave the city $250,000 to complete stadium construction in return for the city naming the venue after his father.
Berlin said he had discussed the proposal with a city attorney and the suggestion was legal, although the Harry Grove name would have to be retained, as in, for example, “ABC Field at Harry Grove,” he said.
