Harry Winston Jerome (September 30, 1940 - December 7, 1982) was a Canadian track and field runner.
Jerome held a number of senior positions in the ministry but resigned over the government's cancellation of a large-scale public-private partnership he had negotiated with Kellogg's to promote youth participation in athletics.
The Harry Jerome Sports Centre, home to the Burnaby Velodrome, in Burnaby, British Columbia is named after Jerome, as are the weight room at his Alma Mater the University of Oregon and the track and field stadium in Prince Albert.

In November of 1962 Harry Jerome suffered a severe muscle injury requiring him to spend six months in a cast and the medical prognosis was he would never run again.
Harry Jerome was named British Columbia's Athlete of the Century, and, in 1971, received the Order of Canada as a testament to his achievements.
Harry Jerome was inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame on June 1, 2001.

Despite his relatively short life, Harry Jerome was probably the most internationally known Black British Columbian, recognition he achieved as a result of his unparalleled accomplishments as a world class sprinter.
Jerome's career as a sprinter was made more phenomenal by the fact that it spanned more than a decade at world-class levels, and also because he overcame a severe injury to his thigh, that was considered so serious it was doubted that he would ever achieve the level of competition he had once enjoyed.
During his career, Jerome set world records of 9.1 seconds in the 100 yds., 10.00 seconds in the 100 meters, and was a member of the Oregon 4 x 100 meter relay team that ran 38 seconds over the distance.

The Pacific World Cup concept for the Jerome meet was conceived as a result of an April 2005 bilateral agreement signed by the Canadian and Chinese Olympic Committees in Beijing.
A year ago Lopes, now 22, garnered some attention at the 2004 Harry Jerome meet in finishing second while attaining part of the standard necessary to compete at the Summer Olympics in Athens.
On the men's side, Karl Jennings of Brampton, Ont., came into the Jerome meet as defending men's 110-metre hurdles champion and he went away with another victory in one of the most exciting races of the evening.
