A broadcaster for more than four decades, Broadcast Pioneers member Harry Kalas was born on Thursday, March 26, 1936 in Chicago and reared in the western suburb of Naperville.
Following the army, Harry Kalas was Sports Director of KGU radio and was play-by-play announcer for the Hawaii Islanders of the Pacific Coast League from 1961 to 1964.
Harry and his wife Eileen have three sons, Todd, Brad and Kane and they live in a western suburb of Philadelphia.

Harry also helped announce the ceremonial closing of Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium in 2003 and was the master of ceremonies at the ceremonial opening of Citizens Bank Park in 2004.
