 Sympatico / MSN : News : CTV.ca
Harvey Cenaiko, the province's solicitor general, said after reading transcripts of radio transmissions he had "grave concerns" over how the incident had been investigated.
The transcripts, leaked to the Edmonton Journal and published on the weekend, suggest the police were targeting Ignasiak, that the tip on Diotte was dubious and that the officers involved spoke of covering up the allegedly routine operation (they didn't want to admit they had spotter officers in the bar).
While Cenaiko had initially rejected the idea of an inquiry, he is now reconsidering the idea.

Alberta's rookie top cop, Solicitor General Harvey Cenaiko, might be forgiven for wanting to slap the cuffs on just about everyone involved in managing the policing of the provincial capital.
Cenaiko, a 25-year veteran of the Calgary police force, has no doubt been watching all of this with increasing alarm, trying to figure out when and if he ought to get involved in an undignified brawl that has Edmontonians taking sides and digging in their heels.
Cenaiko's predecessor as solicitor general, Heather Forsyth, talked a lot about overhauling this system but somehow never quite got around to it.

 edmontonsun.com - Commentary - EDITORIAL: Deterrent wanted
Alberta Solicitor General Harvey Cenaiko made a very good point this week when asked about the talk in Ottawa of killing Section 213 of the Criminal Code, the "communication law" that bans public negotiation for paid sex.
Cenaiko even admitted that governments would be under no obligation to fund detox and housing programs for hookers if the sex-trade industry was made legal.
That's more than a fair comment, but it does leave Cenaiko, the Commons committee and anyone else concerned about prostitution in a conundrum: The existing law does little but endorse the sexual abuse of women and leave them open to being killed.
