	Harvey Fuqua - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Harvey Fuqua, born July 27, 1929 in Louisville, Kentucky, is an African-American soul singer, songwriter, record producer, and record label executive.
		Fuqua later sold Anna Records to Gwen's brother Berry Gordy, and became a songwriter and executive at Motown.
		Fuqua brought the Spinners and Johnny Bristol to Motown, and co-produced several hits with Bristol.

		Fuqua was so impressed with them that he decided to fire the entire group and take on the Marquees as the "New Moonglows." Fuqua recorded with these four (later including fifth member Chuck Barksdale), as Harvey and The Moonglows through 1960, when the group dispersed.
		Harvey reunited with the remainder of his 1972 Moonglows in 1983 for a Grammy performance (minus Lester, and Barksdale who had rejoined The Dells, and plus guitarist Johnson), and they toured until 1986 as Harvey and the Moonglows.
		Fuqua came to the attention of Berry Gordy when he observed Fuqua's marathon practice sessions while Fuqua rented a room at the home of his sister Esther Gordy and her husband George Edwards.

		The surname Fuqua is said to derive ultimately from a Franco-Germanic word meaning "guardian folk." The current spelling, and its siblings Fuquay and Fewquay, are Anglicisations of the French Fouquet.
		Several Fouquets are known to have immigrated from France to the United States during the Huguenot period, including Guillame Fouquet, from whom the vast majority of the American Fuquas outside of Louisiana trace their lineage.
		The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University was named after J.B. Fuqua.

		In 2003, Fuqua and his wife, actress Lela Rochon, were sued by Tanya Evans, a personal fitness trainer who alleged that she'd had a few trysts with Fuqua.
		The lawsuit says Fuqua told her she'd "wind up missing like Chandra Levy" if she told his wife about their affair.
		Fuqua's uncle, funk pioneer and doo wop crooner Harvey Fuqua, was the lead singer of the Moonglows, and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

		In 1960 he disbanded the Moonglows and moved to Detroit to work with Gwen Gordy, Berry Gordy's sister, at her Anna label.
		In 1963 Fuqua closed down the labels and joined Berry Gordy's growing Motown operation as writer, producer and promotion man, bringing with him several of the Harvey and Tri-Phi acts to the company.
