I don't know if Harvey's name is actually a parody of Harvey Wallbanger.
I don't know if anybody has ever noticed, but Harvey Kneeslapper seems to bare some resemblance to comedian Rip Taylor, specifically his appearance and his penchant for throwing glitter/confetti.

Tough Pigs Anthology -- Hipsters and Squares on Sesame Street
Harvey Kneeslapper is not a cat that you would ever think of as a hipster -- but when you think about it, his shtick is very similar to the Hipster/Square dynamic we've been looking at.
Like the hipsters of old, Harvey delights in playing tricks on the squares.
But Harvey's continuing war against the squares teaches us one thing -- that no matter how dorky or uncool you are, there's a little bit of Hipster in all of us.

Pranks for the Memories | Points in Case
Back in the Jim Henson days, before Elmo was unleashed on a generation of kids, there was a Muppet called Harvey Kneeslapper.
That fucker’s sole purpose in life was to torment everyone he encountered, while teaching valuable lessons about letters and numbers.
Harvey Kneeslapper instantly became my new role model, surpassing TV’s Frank Bonner, better known as Herb Tarlek on WKRP.

I don't think Harvey Kneeslapper would make a cool fig....too generic looking, and the letter sticking gag wouldn't work unless they planned some sort of hidden magnets in the figures in advance....or made a colorform or actual sticker, which would be weird.
Can't think of another "human" male Muppet with blonde hair and with the unkempt look to that and his mustache and his generally retro appearance, I'd like him.
Give us, like, a sheet of them, and a regular plastic one for Harvey to hold on his own.

While he's not used that much, he's still on the show - we're not even told "whatever happened to him", all that appears is a quote of one of his routines.
While it was great to learn why no new material was made with Harvey Kneeslapper and Don Music (yes, I fully admit that I did bang my head on the piano just as the psychologists feared the audience would do), these characters still are seen in reruns.
This section certainly could have included more characters that have been completely dropped from the show like Rodeo Rosie and Deena Monster.

I was there twelve years ago for a weekend; I remember walking around the sweltering downtown area looking for the intersection of Camp and LaFayette streets (where
Lee Harvey Oswald lurked in the Summer of 1963- it no longer exists, apparently, replaced by a plaza of governmental buildings).
I remember the humidity and evening showers, the street cars, beignets, flened catfish, and the Preservation Hall at 11:30 at night.
