  Harvey Lembeck
Harvey Lembeck started his career not as an actor, director, or teacher, but right out of New Utrecht High School, as a dancer at the New York Worlds Fair.
Lembeck’s love of life and the people in his life is evident not only when you see the sparkle in his eyes in a candid photo but also when you hear those who knew him speak about him.
Even though Lembeck is gone, his love of both acting and actors, and his generosity of spirit live on, not only in films and television but every week within the walls of the space he created – The Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop.

 Michael Lembeck
Harvey Lembeck was a well-known character actor who appeared in dozens of movies and television shows, as well as founding the Harvey Lembeck Comedy workshop, which counts Robin Williams, Penny Marshall and John Ritter among its long-time members.
Lembeck has worked steadily throughout the years, onstage (he appeared with John Travolta in a touring company of Grease) and on television, with the occasional foray into features, and although his face became recognizable through his many television appearances, he never quite became a household name.
Lembeck made his feature directorial debut with The Santa Clause 2 (2002), starring Tim Allen, followed by the comedy Connie and Carla (2004), starring Nia Vardalos and Toni Collette.

During the 1970s and early 1980s, Harvey Lembeck directed several TV sitcom episodes, and also operated a training school for aspiring comedians; carrying on the "family business" after Harvey's death was his son, actor/director Michael Lembeck.

Even though she only appears in the first four of the films, next to Harvey Lembeck's "Eric Von Zipper" character, Candy holds the largest "running gag" legacy of any secondary cast member in this series.
While she never sang a note in these movies and her band never got extended screen time, she and The Exciters were still an important piece of the entire musical element of the theme.

Frankie and Annette are back for another sexy sand-fest by the California shore to welcome “potato Bug,” a wacky British mop head singer who’s just way out of place on the sun-warmed sand.
And those sands just get hotter when the Beach Party gang pull out all the stops, recruiting Harvey Lembeck, Don Rickles and the music of Stevie Wonder, to prove that in addition to skin and skimpy swimsuits, Bikini Beach has hip shakin’, torso rattlin’ soul.
The summer beach party is in full swing when the charismatic Brit-pop idol Potato Bug pitches his tent in the sand and sends the girls swooning.

Harvey Lembeck as the greaser Eric Von Zipper who would reappear in later beach party films is also amusing and I sometimes feel was the inspiration for the character of Fonzie in the later 70's series "Happy Days".
