Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Shinjitai (modern Japanese) writing: 豊臣秀吉; Kyūjitai (historical) writing: 豐臣秀吉; born Hiyoshi-maru 日吉丸; coming of age (gempuku) as Kinoshita Tōkichirō 木下藤吉郎 and later made Hashiba and martial nobility in the style of Hashiba Chikuzen no Kami Hideyoshi 羽柴筑前守秀吉; 1536 - September 18, 1598), was a Sengoku daimyo who unified Japan.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi was born in what is now Nakamura-ku, Nagoya in Owari province, the home of the Oda clan.
Hideyoshi wanted the title of shogun in order to be truly considered the active ruler of Japan.

The interesting part is that the designs on the stones are the crests/signets of the clan that placed that stone.
I'm pretty sure the mid-left crest unlike the others is the Toyotomi family crest (Toyotomi Hideyoshi was the second lord to seize power during the Sengoku era).
The plaque notes that when Toyotomi Hideyoshi was having problems finding stones to build the castle, a poor woman offered her own hand mill-stone to Hideyoshi.

If there was one let down in Samurai Warriors that stood out the most to me, it would be that Hideyoshi Hashiba was not playable.
I was overjoyed to see Hideyoshi was in this game (his little dance and song at Sunomata made me hold him in higher regards) along with Tadakatsu, but still I didn't feel like getting it.
I found Hideyoshi one of the most effective characters in the game.

Akechi was supposed to be fighting at some where else but one morning Akechi raise a army and march to a Honouji where Oda was staying.
Oda was on the way to help one of general Hideyoshi attack and conquor Mouri.
After a battle against Hideyoshi Akechi has lost and while he was running away through the mountain one of phesant stabbed and ended Akechi's short era.

The council Hideyoshi set up to rule in his son, Hideyori's stead just splintered, and Tokugawa had to fight a long civil war, ending with the siege of Osaka in 1618.
It was speculated that the mother of Hideyoshi's son was in one of the castle's towers, and when Tokugawa ordered his cannon to fire upon the tower she quickly convinced her son to surrender.
With Nobunaga, the country was centered at Kyoto, and effectively led by him, or later Hideyoshi and Ieyasu.
