Rowhani's membership in the council is as one of the two representatives of the Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran.
Rowhani has previously been a Deputy Speaker of Majlis, as a representative from Tehran.
As of August 14, 2005, Rowhani has been replaced from his post of being the council's secretary by Ali Larijani.

Hassan Rowhani l'altra sera ha ribattuto ai critici dicendo che "la Repubblica islamica non ha ceduto sui suoi principi", ovvero sul diritto dell'Iran a possedere tecnologia nucleare compreso il ciclo del combustibile (l'uranio).
