The Hasselblad award is the most important prize in photography in the world today, and the award ceremony has become a international event of unique prestige, with award winners of great international renown.
The name of the award winner is announced each year on or around 8 March, the birthday of Victor Hasselblad, either in the city of residence of the winner, or at another significant venue from the point of view of photography, with transmission by video to a parallel press conference in Göteborg.
The award is then presented in October or November by a representative of the Swedish royal family at a formal ceremony in Göteborg.
