The importance of this discovery is that there is evidence of a peaceful community settled in Kempston and it was a thriving place before Bedford came into the picture.
Hastingsbury or Greys was granted to Ada, the wife of Henry Hastings.
So, capitalising on this community spirit, on February 1st 1997 over 50 people, representing organisations from Kempston, met to celebrate the good things about the town and to think about the needs of the community.
