About 1,500 10,000-yen notes were found floating in an irrigation ditch last Saturday, and an additional 200 notes were fished out on Sunday about 100 meters downstream from the original find.
According to Japanese law, the people who found the cash and turned it in will assume ownership if the original owner is not found within six months.
