Hate sites cover a wide spectrum in terms of motivation and include well-intentioned grassroots efforts, organised activism, harmless first-person vitriol and more venomous, ruthless and malicious attacks.
These kind of hate site protagonists feel they are doing a service to the community but in some cases they end up becoming caricatures of their own material: clowns at best and extortionists at worst.

The hate sites I chose to visit were listed on websites such as the ADL and Hatewatch.org (Hatewatch.org made the task of finding more prominent racist websites easier, as they allowed visitors to rate each website for the extremity of its opinion).
Furthermore, I chose sites not because I felt they were average representations of hate sites, rather, I chose to review the more well-constructed sites, assuming those were most often visited and would best exemplify the techniques that online hate websites used to lure new members.
The fact that hate groups even speak directly to children is disturbing enough, yet we must consider the degree of sophistication with which they are speaking to children, and I see it as very little.
