In June 1998 Bo McCoy and his cousin Ron McCoy had a vision to unite all the descendants of the feuding McCoys of Pike County, Kentucky for a family reunion scheduled in Pikeville, Kentucky, June 7-10, 2001.
Emerging as a conflict of progress and change between traditional Appalachian and its own dwelling neighbors, the Hatfield and McCoy feud caused years of bloodshed and heartache and led to a grim public hanging in 1890, marking the end of the quarrel between families.
Today, Tug Valley in Hatfield and McCoy country is dedicated to preserving local heritage in order that future generations may learn from the successes and pitfalls of the past.

This was; romance between Johnson "Johnse" Hatfield (Jan. 6, 1862-April 19, 1922), eldest of the 13 children of Devil Anse and Levicy Chafin Hatfield, and Rose Anna McCoy, eighth of the 13 children of Randolph and Sarah McCoy.
Randolph McCoy was badly beaten on the night of that double murder of her son and daughter on New Year's night in 1888.
