The Hatsukaichi City Mark was designed to accentuate the characters of the city's name with a smooth and harmonious pattern that would symbolize Hatsukaichi's development and progress.
In the Edo Period(1603-1867), Hatsukaichi was an important stop on the Saigokukaido, or West Japan Road, and became a place of shelter for travelers.
Hatsukaichi's symbol is the picturesque Mt.Gokurakuji and at 693 meters high this national park looks down upon the Seto Inland Sea.
