  Hatto I - LoveToKnow 1911
In 899, when Arnulf died, Hatto became regent of Germany, and guardian of the young king, Louis the Child, whose authority he compelled Zwentibold, king of Lorraine, an illegitimate son of Arnulf, to recognize.
He retained his influence during the whole of the reign of Louis; and on the king's death in 911 was prominent in securing the election of Conrad, duke of Franconia, to the vacant throne.
This Hatto built the church of St George on the island of Reichenau, was generous to the see of Mainz and to the abbeys of Fulda and Reichenau, and was a patron of the chronicler Regino, abbot of Priim.

Joyce Hatto - The Ultimate Recording Hoax
The Joyce Hatto hoax story - inevitably now dubbed "Hattogate" in certain parts of the media - has been told many times in newspapers, magazines and journals around the world, as well as being summarised on radio and TV news programmes and discussed all over the Internet.
Whilst there were a number of genuine recordings made by Joyce Hatto in the 1960's and 1970, there appears to be nothing to suggest she played on any of the more recent alleged recordings.
Obviously further research was needed, and we already knew that at least two of the 'Hatto' tracks were not taken from the Simon CD by the listening tests Jed had carried out.

Hatto usually stole from younger artists who were not household names, although on the basis of the reviews she received, they richly deserved to be.
Hatto’s playing of Rachmaninoff’s Third Concerto, one critic said of the orchestra musicians: “It doesn’t matter who they are, their playing is tight and hot.” Actually, it did matter, since they have turned out to be the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, performing with the formidable Yefim Bronfman.
Joyce Hatto, whose CDs made in her 60s and 70s have now been proved to be the work of younger virtuosos, will sadly not be remembered as a “prodigy of old age,” a term used by Denis Dutton.

Since this review was written it has emerged that at least some of Joyce Hatto's recordings for Concert Artist are based on copies of the work of other pianists (further information here).
Hatto’s tempo seems to me absolutely spot-on, allowing the music to unfold naturally and easily, yet not without hints of graver things, particularly in the sinking harmonies of the development section.
I should add that Hatto’s solutions are always musical in themselves and the matter is more one for specialised debate than for the general public, who can rest assured that they are getting faithful and very musical versions of these sonatas, worthy to be compared with many more blazoned names.
