Since I didn't know the story behind the haunting I couldn't be very specific, but we waited and listened for ghosts.
The story, as it turns out, is that the ghosts are associated with the farm which used to stand at this corner, before the new-growth trees sprung up over the course of a century or two and turned it into woods.
The weirdest thing about these haunted woods was the little apiary sitting on the main path.

Some farmers will provide free apiary sites, because they need pollination, and farmers who need many hives often pay for them to be moved to the crops when they bloom.
For pollination, apiaries are rarely set up; the bees are only present during the bloom period of the crop.
But in a few cases, such as for organic farms, long term apiaries are established, with the rule of thumb is one hive per acre of the crop that needs pollination.

Okay, some might throw the term ARG when talking about The Apiary (also known as ILB, or ilovebees, or beesrgr8t!!), or the events of late Summer 2004 having something to do with Halo 2 — “viral marketing” or some nonsense — but that’s all totally peripheral.
The Haunted Apiary was more thrilling and engrossing than most games I’ve played in the last two years (*cough* see yesterday’s post *cough*).
Maybe there will be an ARG as detailed and seamless as The Haunted Apiary somewhere down the line, but as long as ARG-makers keep forgetting to put the “Alternate Reality” part of ARG into their events — Last Call Poker’s graveyard stunt is hardly worth mentioning in this context — ARG-ers are just playing along.
