 HAWAII DISTRICT COURTS
District judges shall hold office for a term of six years and until their successors are appointed and qualified; provided that any judge may be reprimanded, disciplined, suspended with or without salary, relieved or removed from office for misconduct or disability, as provided by rules adopted by the supreme court.
District courts shall have jurisdiction of, and their criminal jurisdiction is limited to, criminal offenses punishable by fine, or by imprisonment not exceeding one year whether with or without fine.
Jurisdiction is conferred upon the district courts to try all cases arising from the violation of ordinances in force in the counties and to impose the penalties in such ordinances prescribed for such offenses in like manner as their original jurisdiction is exercised under the general law.

The salary cap from state and county sources for the chief justices of the courts of appeals is $112,500.
A district court judge is entitled to a total salary from state and county sources that is $2,000 less than the salary of a Supreme Court justice, or $111,000.

 Rules of the District Courts of the State of Hawai`i
The court shall furnish forms approved by the supreme court, and those forms shall be used in all appropriate instances, unless otherwise permitted by the court.
Papers and pleadings required or permitted to be filed in the district courts may be filed by mail addressed to the clerk, but filing shall not be considered timely unless the papers are received by the clerk within the time fixed for filing.
Rule 10(b) of the Circuit Court Rules was also modified to allow stipulations to extend time for answering interrogatories to be consistent with the time periods specified under the District Court discovery rules.
