Hawkshaw the Detective - Don Markstein's Toonopedia
Hawkshaw's arch enemy, The Professor, started out more or less human, tho he didn't resemble Holmes's Professor Moriarty in the least.
But in 1931, he was hired by fellow cartoonist Rudolph Dirks to do a topper for The Captain and the Kids, and he revived Hawkshaw (already no stranger to Dirks's syndicate, United Feature, through the Pulitzer connection) for the purpose.
Hawkshaw and The Professor continued their ongoing conflict through World War II; but afterward, when toppers were going out of use, they dropped out of sight.

I've always wanted to pass out on one of those moving sidewalks at the airport so I could wake up to forward progress.
Thanks for the speedy response, though I was more interested in the sample used for the track rather than the disc the remix appears on.
I just checked the MP3 - this is obviously cut from a recording of a Soulwax DJ set - which is why you don't get the full intro and it gets cut short.
