It is located near Hawley, on the border of Pike and Wayne counties in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Lake Wallenpaupack is a center of recreation for the surrounding communities, providing boating and fishing access in the summertime, as well as ice skating and ice fishing in the winter.
The lake was the subject of "Booze Cruise", a 2006 episode of the NBC sitcom, The Office.

Hawley was subjected to a lot of name calling and changing during the first months of 1872.
On this particular day he calls Hawley, Muskoday, and in a letter to Sen. William Windom, he asks for the U.S. Land Office to be located at Hawley because it is to be the center of action.
Hawley received its correct name on or before April 3, 1872, and it was confirmed on that date by Canfield in New York in a letter to Hobart at Brainerd.

Lake Wallenpaupack (or the "Pack"), located in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, is one of the best fishing spots in the state.
The lake is a highland reservoir built in 1928, and has been managed very well over the years by the PA fish Commission.
With all the different fish present the lake can produce some great angling from season to season, with early May trout fishing in the shallows, then walleye and pickerel come in, June is bass time, and stripers are in season all year.
