	ASU Libraries:
		Hayden compiled lists of pioneers from the 1860, 1864 and 1870 U.S. Censuses for the Arizona/New Mexico and Arizona territories and began collecting data on each of the names listed for the geographic area that eventually became the state of Arizona.
		They were originally kept in Senator Hayden's office on the fourth floor of Hayden Library and were transferred to the Arizona Collection after the senator's demise in 1972.
		The Carl Hayden Papers also contain a substantial quantity of raw research materials on territorial Arizona that may have been used in the production of the biographies but were kept separately from the Pioneer Biographical Files.

		Hayden, Arizona, population 900, is a mining town 90 miles southeast of Phoenix.
		The litigation asserted that the company’s mining and smelting operations have released “significant amounts of pollutants and heavy metals into the environment, resulting in personal injury and property damage” to the residents of Gila and Pina counties.
		In an amended complaint filed May 6, 2005 in Arizona Superior Court for Gila County, Asarco states that because pollution from these operations was “obvious,” people who settled next to the operations should be barred from seeking relief in court for health effects or property damage caused by it.
