Heiss Jenkins went back to Cortina several years ago, when one of her skaters at the time, Tonia Kwiatkowski, was competing in a nearby town.
Hayes Jenkins, who had finished fourth in the 1952 Olympics, was hoping to emerge from Dick Button's shadow in Cortina.
Hayes Jenkins won the gold, Robertson was second and David Jenkins captured the bronze.

She married Hayes Alan Jenkins, who had won the 1956 Winter Olympic gold medal in men's figure skating, and whose brother David Jenkins had won the men's figure skating gold medal in 1960.
Although Heiss briefly skated in ice shows after the Squaw Valley Winter Olympics, she retired from the sport in 1962.

Teammates from the 1950 championship hockey team were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at the January event, as was Olympic gold-medal figure skater Peggy Fleming '70.
