Eliza Haywood, John Haywood's second wife, was a young woman when she came to live in their first home in the capital city of Raleigh at the corner of Edenton and Wilmington Streets.

When members of the Haywood County School Board met on November 13, a highlight of the meeting was Director George Chapman’s presentation of the system-wide “Report Card.” Members also discussed employee health insurance and teacher mini-grants, among other items.
Director Chapman gave to Haywood County School Board members Patricia Gruenewald, Robbie Jarrett King, Pearlie Hess, Joe Barden and Harold Garrett a presentation on the system-wide Report Card that he received recently from the state on November 2.
Haywood Junior High School teacher Ray Clark expressed appreciation on behalf of the teachers who are members of the Haywood County Education Association.
