Hazelwood, Missouri: Just the facts...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
The City of Hazelwood was originally incorporated as the Village of Hazelwood, on September 7, 1949.
Hazelwood's colorful history began in 1673 with the discovery of the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers by French explorers Louis Joliet and Father Jacques Marquette.
Between 1950 and 1960, the population of the Village of Hazelwood grew from 336 residents to 6,045.

 State of Alaska v. Hazelwood (12/3/93), 866 P 2d 827
Hazelwood moved to dismiss the charges and suppress evidence, arguing that all of the State's evidence was derived either directly or indirectly from his notification, and that its admission violated the immunity granted by 33 U.S.C. 1321(b)(5) and the principles of Kastigar v.
Hazelwood contends that the absence of a deterrence rationale makes the inevitable discovery doctrine "inappropriate in the context of immunity analysis." Hazelwood asserts that the exclusionary rule and exceptions thereto were developed by balancing two competing interests: the need to deter police misconduct and the need for evidence of wrongdoing to convict the wrongdoer.
The argument Hazelwood presents in the context of a statutory grant of immunity is similar: the lack of a deterrence rationale for the exclusionary rule precludes the application of the inevitable discovery exception to the rule.

Music: Lee Hazelwood (Weekly Alibi . 10-25-99)
Hazelwood started his career as a Phoenix DJ, later branching out into the thrill of victory and agony of defeat in the wide world of production.
Hazelwood suffered throughout most of the 1960s, as egomaniacal producers such as Phil Spector and Brian Wilson topped the charts with a vengeance, but he managed to create an abundance of off-kilter solo records during that period and beyond, and secured a place for himself among the era's top pop craftsmen.
Like Hazelwood's penchant for on-air schizophrenia as a DJ (he was known for embodying several distinct radio personalities -- sometimes all at once -- during the course of his broadcast time slot), his music lends itself to a narrator-as-actor aesthetic that can be a mind-bending day at the amusement park for those listeners so inclined.

"Hazelwood" expanded the authority of school officials to censor a student publication that is curricular and not a public forum, as the Court found the newspaper at Hazelwood East High School to be.
