Head of the River Race - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Head of the River Race (HORR) is a rowing race held annually on the Thames in London from Mortlake to Putney.
The race is only open to men's eights and is considered to be the peak of the head race season — attracting the top UK crews as well as foreign clubs.
Also raced over the same course are the Schools' Head of the River Race (SHORR), organised by Westminster School, the Head of the River Fours, sponsored by Fuller's, and the Womens' Head of the River Race (WeHORR).

Virtual Reality Photography - Case Study: VR Pan Head Review (Peace River Studios, Kaidan, Manfrotto)
Peace River indicated that a modest price reduction for their Multi-Row Attachment would be expected in the Sping of 2004, and that the design of this Attachment will be stronger and lighter than the model tested for this review.
When we first mentioned these concerns, Peace River responded that the relative complexity of their head allows for additional uses, such as stereoscopic VR photography, and that there are a number of "shortcuts" that users quickly learn.
None of these VR heads include a leveling device of any sort, yet such a mechanism is generally a necessity to either incorporate into your tripod or to add between your tripod and pan head.

It was only that morning that the five of us had left our camp high in the Cirque of Towers in Wyoming's Wind River Range and made the short approach to the South Buttress of the hulking mass of granite known as Pingora.
The 5.8 route proved to be enjoyably mellow that morning, the only difficulties being our odd number, and the crux pitch, known as the "K Crack." It wasn't long though before these difficulties were overcome and the five of us enjoyed a pleasant summit.
From the top, we had a perfect view of the East Ridge of Wolf's Head, a gnarly razor's edge less than two feet wide in some spots and with over a thousand feet of exposure on each side.

The Head of the River Races   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
The two largest single rowing events in the UK are the "Head of the River Fours", held in November, and the "Eights Head" in March, on a stretch of the tidal River Thames (known as the "Tideway").
On the river Thames the dredged deep channel for large boats is relatively narrow so there is a great deal to be gained by steering carefully to remain on this, the fastest flowing water - referred to as "the stream".
The results are further confused in the Head of the River Fours by the three types of boat able to enter.

Welcome to Wallingford Head of the River
Wallingford Head was originally an unofficial Christmas head race run at Wallingford Rowing Club.
Most of the "serious" training at that time of year was done in eights but there were no head races at that time of year for eights - yet many clubs do train in them throughout the winter.
Primarily for Eights, it was however decided to add all sweep oar boats so as to allow both head races at Wallingford to cover all boat types.
