Finding State Records: Abstracts of the legislative journals and of the records of the Governor and Council are printed and indexed in New Hampshire State and Provincial Papers and some local petitions are included in the volumes devoted to town records.
It is quite common, however, for churches to deposit their early records with the local or state hisorical society or archives or with the denominational agencies listed in "Useful Addresses." Sometimes church records are mixed in with towns and will be found on microfilm in the State Library or the State Archives in original format.
Newspapers are not always as revealing about state and local matters as we might like them to be but they do indicate the editors' and correspondents' concerns, in particular their political concerns.

The last reference found to the colonial seal is in a letter from Governor Martin to the Earl of Hillsborough in November, 1771, in which he recounts the broken condition of the seal.
a seal of the State, which shall be kept by the Governor, and used by him, as occasion may require, and shall be called 'The Great Seal of the State of North Carolina.' It also provided for the secretary of state to countersign with the governor.
This was to "serve as a constant reminder of the people of this state's commitment to liberty." Legislation adding the date "April 12, 1776" to the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina was ratified May 2, 1983, with an effective date of January 1, 1984.

However, it is stated on the records that he enlisted for the war and served from Feb. 1, 1777 to Aug. l, 1780.
In his will dated Mar. 1841 it is stated that his "son John, lives in the Arkansas Territory (town unknown) and son Robert resides in Tuscaloosa, State of Alabama" Nothing more is known of John and Robert.

Between the assemblies of 1771 and 1773 the turnover in legislators was almost forty percent, five percent greater than between the legislature of 1773 and the Constitutional Convention of 1776.
Nonetheless, the members of the Convention were vested with the responsibility of adopting a form of government for the new state, and despite the acrimony they persisted, however slowly, in their efforts to reach that goal.
In fact, the turnout was poor throughout the state, undoubtedly because the war was not going well for the American cause, and most people, even if they were eligible to vote, preferred to wait and see what would happen before they committed themselves to the new state government.

Working with community-based veteran organizations, including state directors of veteran's affairs, the liaisons will attend conventions, meetings and other functions to provide a communications channel between veterans and the VA. They will also coordinate outreach activities to inform veterans and the public of VA programs.
Our thanks go to Jon for his contribution to the veterans and their families that he served in the state of Iowa and our congratulations and best wishes for success go with him on his new appointment.
Veterans Day at the State Fair was also held on the 13th of August and there were a lot of entries in the Veterans Day Parade and I feel there was fun had by all who attended the State Fair on that special day.
