 Public health - Open Encyclopedia
This was the case, even though Redi showed in the 17th century that fly eggs were required for maggots to be generated in dung heaps and Lazzaro Spallanzani, in 1768, proved that microbes came from the air, and that regeneration could be prevented by boiling in a hermetically sealed container.
John believed in the germ theory of disease as opposed to the prevailing miasma theory, which taught correctly that disease was a result of poor sanitation, but was based only upon the prevailing theory of spontaneous generation.
Microorganisms were first observed around 1680 by Anton van Leeuwenhoek, but it was not until the 1880s, that the culmination of the germ theory of Robert Koch and Louis Pasteur and the production of artificial vaccines, revolutionized the study of infectious disease and introduced the modern era of public health.

October 1923 Herald of Christ's Kingdom
7: 9, 10.) Abraham was not under the sentence of the Law; but he had the promise that a blessing would come to him and to all others.
Abraham, styled the father of the faithful, the Redeemer says, "rejoiced to see My day: and saw it and was glad." (John 8:56.) By faith he saw the Day of Christ, the Millennial Day, the Kingdom well founded; by faith he rejoiced in the glorious reign of righteousness then to be established.
How little Abraham could have understood that the seed that was to be as the stars of heaven is the spiritual seed, and that the seed that shall be as the sand upon the seashore is the natural seed.

Gone are those days when lawyer means "a person wearing black coat, white band and running in the courts and chambers with heaps of papers all around".
Although in India, that is not quiet the situation, yet lawyers are able to understand that they can build up their practice even on non-litigious matters, although Litigation still constitutes a core area of a law firm's practice.
This to some extent enables a law student to focus much earlier as to what sort of practice would be best suited for him/her.

Edinburgh Evening News - What's On - Janey Godley - Good Godley
That’s not to say Godley’s some kind of Howard Marks revelling in tales from the wrong side of the law - she is always quick to point out that her in-laws never dealt drugs and stuck to bank jobs.
She also suffered sexual abuse at the hands of a relative when aged just five, and it’s a measure of her comedic gifts that she can address this weighty issue and get genuine laughs, rather than sympathetic sniffles as she heaps scorn on the deceased offender and examines attitudes to therapy.
Obviously, there’s little that Godley will shy away from in the way of material, but she also isn’t the sort of comic who rams an inflexible viewpoint down the audience’s throat.
