When I asked the owner/publisher of Heart of Oak to order the Priates of the Spanish Main ships for the store he told me that he already had them coming because everyone wanted them for Heart of Oak.
HoO is played on a table top without using hexes and since they are so cheap compared to minis that's what we are gaming HoO with.

Nevertheless, I think the purist nautical fiction fan may prefer a less pretentious style of writing a la Forester, Marrayat, James Nelson or Richard Woodman.
