Hearts (game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hearts is a trick-taking card game normally played by four players but it can be modified for other numbers of players.
Low (2, 3, 4) hearts are considered highly desirable, high hearts (Q, K, A) are highly desirable provided one has an adequate opportunity to 'shoot the moon' - that is, to win all the heart tricks, and force one's three opponents to increase their scores by 26 points.
If you constantly pass cards of a particular suit or suits, your opponent may pass cards from the suit or suits that you never pass knowing that a void in that suit is nearly guarenteed.

 Card Games: Hearts
Hearts is a trick taking game in which the object is to avoid winning tricks containing hearts; the queen of spades is even more to be avoided.
If hearts have not been played and a player is on lead holding nothing but hearts and the Queen of Spades, many people allow hearts to be led, instead of forcing the player to lead the Queen of Spades.
As an alternative, some play that hearts from 2-10 are face value, all heart pictures are 10, the heart ace is 15, and the spade queen is 25.

 Rules of Card Games: Ulti
In the days when cards were single-ended, the suit symbol on the under was at the bottom of the card, but in double-ended cards, so that it does not disappear entirely, it is placed the "bottom" of each end.
In this case, for example, a minor suit 20-100 beats a minor suit 40-100 ulti and a heart betli beats a minor suit durchmars with ulti.
If you allow a suit durchmars to be played on its own, without ulti, 20-100 or 40-100, then a player who wants to bid a no trump durchmars must expicitly say so in the bid.

The suits are (in order, lowest to highest) Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades, abbreviated C, D, H and S. The 13 denominations (or face values) are (from lowest to highest): 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (T), Jack (J), Queen (Q), King (K) and Ace(A).
An exception to this is the `trump' suit--if a suit is designated to be a trump suit (by whatever means the rules of the game allow), then any card of that suit will beat any card of any other suit.
When each player has 10 cards there will be two left--these are exposed and the suit of the one of higher denomination determines the trump suit.

However when you hold 8 cards together in one suit the opponents have only 5 cards in that suit which on average is divided 2 - 3 in the two opposition hands.
