 State Street Modernization
The MBTA Blue and Orange Lines meet at the station for passenger interchange The station portion of the tunnel is tightly sandwiched between the basements of two buildings, 60 State Street to the north and 53 State Street to the south, and a major utility corridor runs east to west.
The major technical challenge was to mitigate the impact of demolition and reconstruction of the MBTA tunnel on subway operations, utilities, and surface traffic flow.
For street areas to be functional above the construction, temporary traffic decking had to be put into place at the end of every night work shift.

Heath Street, a location where the LRVs finally succeded the PCCs in 1984, lowering the car requirements for PCC cars to those needed for the Arborway-Park Street line, and the Mattapan-Ashmont line.
The MBTA has been running Beacon Street service with solely LRVs for some time now, and this seems to show that the MBTA has enough faith in the modified cars that they will trust them to provide base service on at least one route.

NETransit: The Green Line Flood of 1996
Bus Operations advises that they are prepared to maintain service on the 39-Arborway in lieu of light rail between Northeastern University and Heath Street for the rest of the rating at least (December 28).
On Thursday, October 24, service on the Green Line was extended from Park Street to Copley Station, still supplemented by trips between Brattle Loop and Canal St. The electric power for switches and signals was still out, so cars (1- and 2-car sets) had to maintain a 10 mph speed restriction until this is resolved.
Kenmore station (shown) was completely under water, and reportedly had water in the mezzanine that was several feet deep at the flood's peak.

 Arborway Committee - ARRPAC Notes
MBTA consultants also made a presentation regarding the power substation, which will be needed to augment the power supply for streetcar operation between Heath Street and Arborway/Forest Hills.
Upon arrival at Heath Street, the committee disembarked to examine elements of the newly rebuilt accessible station there.
Two examples of typical stations were offered - one featuring a "curbside" stop in which light rail tracks approach the existing sidewalk to conduct boardings and alightings, and a second "bulb-out" design, in which a raised curb platform extends out to the travel lane in the street, avoiding any deviation from the streetcar's normal course.

 BBC - h2g2 - Public Transit in Boston (MBTA) - A635906
Most stations are manned, the maps are pretty clear, they have reasonably priced unlimited visitor passes, and almost everywhere you will want to go is fairly close to a station.
Of course, if you are in one of those stations you will have to know the name of the station at the end of the line you are travelling towards.
At the more southerly stations on the Red Line, a token is also required to exit the platform, and two are required to enter.

 North Station (Boston) - Enpsychlopedia
The Fitchburg Railroad station was on the other side of the Boston and Maine Railroad approach, right next to Beverly Street, the approach to the Warren Bridge.
As of early 2005, very little remained of the old station and construction began to restore full Green Line service and connect the temporarily closed Science Park and Lechmere stops to the new underground station.
The other three were all on the north side of Causeway Street, with the first two in the area where North Station is now:
