Track timing issues aside, Heathen Chemistry is a very good LP even though it includes a couple of rather lumpen, workman-like rockers.
Heathen Chemistry is a record which is an improvement on both but still doesn't shine as much as the previous Oasis classics.
Frankly, bar that one song, "Heathen Chemistry", is pedestrian, dull, unimaginative pub-stadium rock that no label would touch in a million years if it was made by an unsigned band.

Oasis: Heathen Chemistry (2002): Reviews   (Site not responding. Last check: )
While the electronic flourishes and arrogant bombast that respectively marred the band's last two efforts are thankfully gone, there's nothing on Heathen Chemistry to suggest that the "Wonderwall" commercial glory days of the mid-'90s are coming back.
Essentially, Oasis have tentatively begun to master the art of becoming veterans: writing songs that reflect their circumstances and not a mythical image of what they once were; songs that suggest there's life in the old beast yet.
Heathen Chemistry also takes the time to cop riffs and progressions from previous Oasis hits.

Heathen Chemistry, although not yet a classic as What's the Story and not (in my opinion) as structured as Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, it still fits in nicely as the latest effort pulled out by the guys.

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Reviews | Heathen Chemistry: Your views
The production on Heathen Chemistry is a lot more raw than the last two and now they have four good song writers in the band, I can see them put out another 10 albums, some good, some poor.
It's Heathen Chemistry - a new band a new direction - the boys have done good in my opinion - eleven solid and polished tracks - a refreshing change in the charts which are constantly saturated by cheap manufactured pop.
Heathen Chemistry's production is flat and dull - the sound of the album rarely fills out the stereo canvas like past Oasis tracks, a quality which made those releases unique (if you could stand all the din).

Heathen Chemistry, is the fifth studio album from Oasis (sixth if you include The Masterplan), and sounds like an album completely devoid of history and expectations--it is light and breezy and blissfully unaware of anything outside its (notably short) running time.
Least of all his brother--"Songbird" is a startlingly good acoustic pop ditty, complete with trademark handclaps that, along with the voodoo spirit of Hendrix haunting his "Better Man", shows that his songwriting has improved tenfold since his last effort, but he still has much to learn.

Their five previous studio albums, Definitely Maybe (1994), What's The Story (Morning Glory) (1995), Be Here Now (1997), Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants (2000) and Heathen Chemistry (2002), have defined Oasis as one of the most important bands to come out of the UK in the last decade.
What they've made is Heathen Chemistry: explosive, yes; experimental, no. It's another, great, Oasis album; the fifth they've done in the studio and the best, says Gallagher, since their second, What's the Story Morning Glory, became the best-selling British album ever.

 Heathen Chemistry by Oasis CD
Their fifth studio album, HEATHEN CHEMISTRY, doesn't change this stance, but what it does do is hone the band's best qualities to an impossible-to-resist machine-like precision, all gleaming chrome and super-high gloss finish.
The basics are all here: the snarling, swaggering vocals; the massive, all-encompassing hooks, the bright melodies; and, perhaps most importantly, the overwhelming sense that they just might be the most unstoppable force known to rock.
In HEATHEN CHEMISTRY they prove that the basics are there but adding a little of good taste to sharp and arrange every song to unthinkable places.
