Mask (sometimes The Mask) is a 1985 album by the Greek artist Vangelis.
It was the last album he produced while living in London, and also the last he produced for the Polydor label.
In later interviews it was revealed that the choir is probably the English Chamber Choir and that the male vocalist is Guy Protheroe; the choir also featured on Heaven and Hell (1975).

Knowing that Heaven and Hell is one of the angular stones of Vangelis' solo career, being unable to get it anywhere around here for such a long term (should be noticed that I live in Chile: that long, thin earth stripe whose feet stand at the south pole) was just Hell.
The greatest thing about Heaven And Hell (because the album is full of great things) is the revolutionary sound Vangelis created through mixing electronic synthesizers and choirs and beautiful solo vocals and his unique feeling as both composer and performer.
Heaven And Hell Part II is «Hell», as we could say that Part I is «Heaven».

For the first time, Lynn has written all of an album's songs, and her lyrics are as cutting and incisive as ever.
The closest I can get to what this album is about is a starry night in a suburban neighborhood and some friends spending their last night on earth together around a space heater.
The album carries a torch through somber desperation and soaring choruses, filled with strings and hope; it starts and finishes strong, and though it is strongest when there are no discernable traces of their influence, it still remains great through and through.

At first it seems to cash in on the hype by opening with a bombastic (but solid) track that is very reminiscent of the Conquest of Paradise single.
The rest of the album is calm and ethereal.

Peaceful Easy Feeling (which sadly is left off of this album) is the showcase of the group's "Country-Rock" era, which The Last Resort is that song which crossed the line into rock while still saving a little bit of the Eagle's heritage.
hell freezes over is a great eagles album which contains one of my favourite eagles tracks get over it.that song alone justifies the purchase of this cd.the acoustic rendition of their classics are great.strongly recommended.the only boring thing on this page is the previous insipid review from a moronic reviewer from australia.

The album is a bit slow and is an acquired taste.

This is not an album which I am unreservedly enthusiastic about, but Vangelis manages to run through forty-three minutes of music without getting dull or repetitious.
If it were, a more accurate title might be "Hell and Heaven and Hell and (Heaven or Maybe Hell) and Heaven." But in any case, let me give you the brief walk-through.
A personal favorite, Heaven and Hell musically covers a lot of territory, and though no themes are repeated across the tracks, the overall vision remains very coherent to the end.

Starting with a tune-up plus yell from Ozzy, this is one of the most energetic songs in their catalogue, plus it showcases that after six years of recording and touring together, Ozzy still had it (be it, this Sabbath album might of been the last for Ozzy's vocals at such a peak).
This album is pure raw Sabbath from beginning to end.
Where previous albums tended to be one way or another (Paranoid seems more on the heavy side, while Sabbath Bloody Sabbath on the mellower), Sabatoge fits perfectly in the middle.

The album was not a big commercial success and they had no success in the single-charts either.
The regular European/Canadian release (top picture) of this album in 1991 was in fact a recompiled version.
Before it was released there were a couple of differences, including an extra song called "Change we Must", extra nature sounds on Garden of Senses and a long instrumental opening to Wisdom Chain.

Please dont compare this work to the keybored pop, I chose my spelling, of the 1980's If you enjoy Vangelis, as I do, you might also want to listen to the compositions of Ennio Morricone, he is the man who wrote that great music that follows Clint Eastwood in the Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns.
I remember first hearing Vangelis' "Heaven & Hell" back in high school, and getting creeped out by the haunting Hell passages on the record and loving it.
Having heard segments of Heaven & Hell on the acclaimed "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan..
