In March, 1983, Monson Maine Slate Co. (subsidiary of the Fletcher Co. of Massachusetts) sold the Kineo quarry to the Town of Monson.
The main panel is of slate 48 x 60 inches, in the upper section the names of World War I veterans, 58 in number appear and in the lower section those of World War II, 109 at the present time.
The line of march was upper Main to Center to Pleasant to Main to Tenny to Lower Main to Water and back to the Town Hall where it disbanded at noon.

In 1799 Moses Mason moved to Bethel, Maine, where he bought the farm, located on the north side of Barker's Ferry, then occupied by Capt. Eleazer Twitchell, and afterwards owned by his son, Aaron Mason, and in 1892 by his grandson, Moses Ayres Mason.
He was a large proprietor in the present town of Mason, Maine, having in 1827 built and operated mills there, and in 1843 when the town was incorporated it was named in his honor.
Though decided in his political preferences he respected merit wherever it was found, and as a counsellor, particularly in political affairs, he was unusually clever, generally predicting the result of a given course of action.

The settlers of Shepardsfield Plantation petitioned the General Court to incorporate the town of Hebron, and the incorporation was confirmed March 6, 1792.
By 1828 the town had grown substantially and there was strong feeling that the western part of Hebron and the eastern part were no longer compatible for the conduct of town business.
Consequently a petition was sent the the Senate anf House of Representatives of Maine requesting a division of the town and the incorporation of the Town of Oxford.
