The Hector Hodler Library is among the three most important collections in the world specializing in literature in and about the international planned language Esperanto and about the wider field of interlinguistics.
Among these three, the Hodler Library stands out not only for its attempt to be exhaustive but also because the UEA and the CRD have taken on the responsibility of assuring the continuity and usefulness of this high quality collection.
The Library has been and continues to be a documentation resource used in the course of the editing of the UEA's official journal (Esperanto magazine), for other work carried out by its Central Office staff, and for international research on interlinguistics.

 Untitled
While some of the older supporters of Esperanto wrangled and engaged in petty power struggles, two young men from Switzerland...schoolboys, really, demonstrated some of the practical common sense and realism which seemed to be lacking in their elders.
Their names were Hector Hodler and Edmond Privat and together, they founded, on April 28th 1908, an international organisation which is still going strong today.
Hector had a very short life, Edmond had a long and quite exciting life, and information on the Web about both of them is very sparse.

In its traditional sense, a library is a collection of books.
However, with the collection or invention of media other than books for storing information, many libraries are now repositories and/or access points for maps, prints or other artwork, microfilm, microfiche, audio tapes, CDs, LPs, video tapes and DVDs, and have facilities to use CD-ROM databases and the Internet.
Thus, modern libraries have been redefined as places to get access to information in any format, whether it is stored inside the building or not.

 Ogrinc: Adelsward Fersen
During the 1980s my curiosity was further aroused by acquaintance with d'Adelswärd's own work which, because of the small editions in which it appeared, is difficult to locate.
In the Royal Library in The Hague I found one volume of poetry, two novellas, and a virtually complete set of the magazine, Akadémos, which d'Adelswärd edited in 1909.
The copyist faithfully transcribed the various volumes and noted beside the titles of the poems he does not include in his selection the comment "s.i." ("sans intérêt" or "not interesting").
