Hedgehog defence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The tactic was proposed by General Maxime Weygand during the Battle of France in 1940.
On the Eastern Front the German army used the tactic successfully during the Soviet winter advances, notably in the Battle of Moscow in 1941, in the Second Rzhev-Sychevka Offensive in November 1942, and in the battle around Orel during Operation Saturn in February 1943.
The tactic was also used effectively by the Americans during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, who used a hedgehog defence at Bastogne in Belgium to divert and slow the German 5th Panzer Army.

In quick succession she raced two red hedgehogs across the finish line, and began weaving her others up the board with some very sharp (spiny?) sideways moves, aided by the rule variant we were using, which made the board wraparound.
Dey's remaining hedgehogs were one and two spaces from the finish line, and she only required a roll of 5 in her turn to win - several 5's were rolled by others, but fortunately there were other hedgehogs in the 5 track that could be moved.
As mine was the only hedgehog in track 3, and Dey had no hedgehog in track 2 or 4 that she could sideslip into track 3, she had no choice but to advance my hedgehog over the finish line to win me the game.

The Hedgehog Tarot is one of the new Cudahy tarot series by the German artist Michael Kutzer (Michael's Tarot, Tarot Pers).
High Priestess Hedgehog points at some trash that has been left behind in the forest as if to say, 'shame on you.' Hedgehogs have developed a special tactic to deal with enemies, namely, rolling up like a ball and extending really nasty barbs.
On the Three of the suit, the hedgehog is training his bugs to jump through a hoop and the 10 of Fleas echoes the story of the Pied Piper of Hamlin, luring away the fleas with his flute.

 Tactics for Limited Front Battles
Each set of tactics depends on many factors such as: is the battle timed, what is the goal of the battle, what are the sizes of the forces involved, are missile weapons allowed, and what are the materials available to the commander.
The first, and most common tactic for fighting a Limited Front battle is to have a front line of beefy fighters who have big shields and when the lay on is called, charge the other shield wall.
This tactic can be useful for long timed battles or in situations where the goal is annihilation of the other forces.

The idea is to overload the enemy flank causing the defending forces to bend back along their own line or to break and expose the rest of the line.
This has been an effective tactic for many generals, including Napoleon, but is largely supplanted by the envelopment in mobile warfare.
The hedgehog tactic must therefore be viewed as a last resort against a fast-moving attacker.

Brandt's Hedgehog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brandt's Hedgehog (Paraechinus hypomelas) is a species of desert hedgehog native to the Middle East and Middle Asia.
Brandt's Hedgehog is approximately the size of the West European Hedgehog (about 500–1,000 g in weight and 25 cm in length), but has distinctive big ears similar to the Long-eared Hedgehog and is a much faster runner due to lighter (but still superior to the Long-eared Hedgehog) needle protection.
Brandt's Hedgehog prefers arid desert areas and mountains.

This tactic was universal and old (less the triple rank salvo which was unique to the Swedes, appearantly, most others only did the double salvo).
Ruhnkes rules on salvo modifiers and hedgehog, exception-a unit that is in a hedgehog is considered doubled, rules for going into/outof hedgehog remain unchanged whether the unit started doubled or not, but once in it is doubled.
The rational is that these tactics were standard, as a matter of fact the rotating of the ranks firing was called "caracole" too.

Sonic the Hedgehog is back, but this time he's ready to kick some tail.
The plot is a little on the uninteresting and corny side though, but so is everything that Sonic the Hedgehog is associated with, but this really makes this movie a better choice for Sonic fans than anime junkies, as the plot is extremely shallow.

Hedgehogs are known, of course, for their spiky, spiny coats.

Retinoic acid stimulated the formation of spinal cord cells and, then, sonic hedgehog changed the cord cells to spinal motor neurons.
Throughout the process, the researchers monitored the cells' expressed proteins to ensure the cultured cells developed as they do in the mouse embryo.

Perhaps because of its (for Americans) unpronounceable name, (it means Duke Two in German) or perhaps because it was released long before Sonic the Hedgehog catapulted the Genesis into mainstream popularity, Herzog Zwei remains obscure to this day.
My personal favorite strategy is to start by throwing a tank or two at the enemy's main base to preoccupy him, then capture a strategically located advance base and use it as a staging point to ceaselessly pester him with more tanks, using your fighter to protect each tank as it attacks the main base.
Another fun tactic is to amass about 50 or so tanks at your base, then tell them all to attack the main base (unfortunately, changing a unit's orders costs money in Herzog Zwei, and units have to be told one at a time what to do!).

On the whole, most of the enemies you encounter will have better melee than ranged attacks, so it is better tactics to attack them with bowmen (and mages, if you can avoid being hit back with too many units).
In terms of unit positioning, the simplest way is to fill two inner spaces with Mages of Light, a but a better tactic is to put one of the mages on an edge, thereby ensuring that all but one of your units are healing.
Because of the sauians unnerving ability to concentrate their fire on one unit, be sure to keep several healers around and try to keep your line strait so only two can mob one guy (hedgehog tactic also seems to work well).
