At the end of the first week of Great Lent, on Saturday of St. Theodore, at 7.30 in the morning, Hegumen Stefan (Novitsky), the eldest brother in the brotherhood of St. Job of Pochaev in Montreal, passed away peacefully and quietly.
Hegumen Stefan (in the world known as - Sergius Novitsky) was born in 1925 in the city of Kiev in the Ukraine.
In 1981 he was ordained as hierodeacon and hieromonk, and at the beginning in the 90s he was elevated to the rank of Hegumen.

Hegumen Gerasim, long-time clergyman of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, died in New Jersey last week.
That same year, with the blessing of Metropolitan Anastassy, Fr Gerasim appealed to Hegumen Julian, head of St Panteleimon Monastery on Mt Athos, who once served in Sremski Karlovci, to accept him among the brethren of his monastery.
