 Bucher Surname
The first instance we have found of the surname Beacher in Pennsylvania is in 1800 in Lycoming County, where in Tyoga Township we find Thomas Beacher.
Their descendents became the Beacher families found near Shenandoah in Schuylkill County after the Civil War, and the Bichers still found near Lebanon and the Adamstown area in Lancaster, some of whom became Beechers over time.
Most Buchers who settled Pennsylvania in the 1700’s were German-speaking but originate from Switzerland, where the surname is quite common.
